Lock Down
It seems we hear more and more about tragedies happening at schools across the nation. At Kalmiopsis we try our best to make our environment as safe as possible by practicing what to do if a prowler or suspicious person were to be on or near our campus.
In the drills, teachers close doors and shut curtains on doors and windows. Then students are moved away from the doors and windows and instructed to remain silent until the drill is done. Also, all exterior doors are locked.
Like the fire drill, teachers check to make sure all their students are present. Office staff call into each room and, if there are any missing students, the office will determine their location. After every room has been called and every student accounted for the drill is concluded.
