RTI
RESPONSE TO INTERVENTION (RTI)
"RTI is the practice of providing high-quality instruction and intervention matched to the student's need. Progress is monitored frequently so decisions can be made about changes a child may need in his/her instruction or goals. It also uses the child's test information to make important educational decisions. "(NASDSE, 2005)
Principles of RTI:
- We can effectively teach all children
- Intervene early
- Use a multi-tier model of service delivery
- Use a problem-solving method to make decisions
- Use research-based, scientifically validated interventions/instruction
- Monitor progress to inform instruction
- Use data to make decisions
- Use assessment for (1) screening, (2) diagnostics, and (3) progress monitoring
