Fires

Each month we hold a surprise fire drill to ensure we are ready in the case of an actual emergency. An announcement is made over the loud speaker that there is a fire and the fire alarm is sounded. All classes evacuate their rooms and proceed to the designated safety zone. Teachers ensure all students are accounted for and, when they are, hold up a green sign. If students are missing a red sign is held up and office staff check to determine if the student(s) are out ill, with another class, etc. Only when all students are accounted for is the drill concluded.

The time it takes to complete each drill is recorded. At present, it takes less than 4 minutes from the time the alarm is sounded until the "All Clear" is given.
